FWHM (Peak-width) versus Pass Energy (PE)

C (1s) FWHM from Poly-Butene polymer

FWHM changes with Pass Energy (PE) settings:  10, 50 and 200 eV

10 eV and 50 eV Pass Energies give almost the same FWHM.  The natural FWHM for C (1s) is revealed by the 50 eV PE.

Three C (1s) peaks measured with three different PEs from Poly-butene, and Normalized to the same Peak Intensity.

Three C (1s) peaks measured with three different PEs from Poly-butene, and Normalized to the same Peak Intensity.   BE Scale was Zoomed Horizontally.

Three C (1s) peaks measured with three different PEs from Poly-butene as measured. Not normalized.

The peak area for PE =  200 eV (red line) is many times larger than the peak area for PE = 10 eV (blue line).
