In-Situ (in UHV) Treatments

In-situ treatments of a surface or a sample usually requires additional equipment in a large sample load-lock or in a separate chamber.

The added equipment, if available, allows you, for example, to:

  • Deposit films
  • Heat samples to anneal them or clean them
  • Cool systems to LN2 temperature and then fracture them to expose fresh bulk
  • Diamond scribes or knives to scrape the surface while in UHV
