IMFP – Metal vs Metal Oxide – Calculated using TPP-2M

The TPP-2M calculated IMFP values in this plot are from the main XPS signals of the metal signal that are normally used to generate atom% quantification.

It is interesting to note that the pure elemental alkali and alkaline metals have IMFP values that are >2X larger than the corresponding alkali or alkaline metal oxides.

It is interesting to note that the IMFP from a large number of metal oxides is smaller than the IMFP of the pure metal (i.e.  Ga, Ge, Y, In, Sn, Sb, Te, I, Cs, Ba, Ce).
